St. Neol

Noel was born on February 2 near Mende, France. He joined the Jesuits in 1630 and in 1643
was sent as a missionary to the Huron Indians in New France. He became assistant to Father Charles Garnier at the Indian village
of Etarita in 1649 and was murdered on December 8 by an apostate Indian while returning from a visit to neighboring Ste. Marie.
He was canonized in 1930 by Pope Pius XI as one of the martyrs of North America. His feast day is September 26th.
